Every safe day afield starts with the same habits. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you have decided to fire. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it. These four rules overlap on purpose — if you break one, the others still protect you.
